Fall Leaves, Sculptures and Ice Cream Tour
November 19, 2023

Such a beautiful day, bright blue sky, minimal traffic, colored leaves everywhere. But only two Model T's, one Model A and two moderns showed at the starting point in Cupertino. Nevertheless, we had a good tour. Our route took us from Cupertino to downtown Los Altos, where the pistache trees are in full Fall color, gorgeous red and orange. We looped thru downtown Los Altos on third street and second street and then back onto Foothill Expressway and headed for Stanford. We encountered another splash of amazing color on Bowdoin Drive on the Stanford campus. Our destination was the Rodin Sculpture Garden, an outdoor art exhibit next to the Cantor Art Museum. We parked the cars and strolled the garden, taking in the sculptures. I must say, the sculptures are quite impressive but the overriding theme seems to be a little dark. Two sculptures stand out: the gates of hell and the thinker. Each of those requires some study.
This was also our lunch location. Some folks brought picnic lunches and some bought food at Tootsies, the onsite café. Lots of picnic tables and benches available here. After lunch, the return trip included a side trip to Rick's Rather Rich Ice Cream in Mountain View. From there, everyone headed for home. Such a beautiful Fall day. If you missed the tour, the leaves are still out there, the weather is still good, roll that T out and go for a nice Fall day drive.
